Aug. 14--Rookie Kyle Schwarber hit two of the Cubs' five home runs Thursday in a 9-2 win over the Brewers which extended their winning streak to a season-high seven games. Jon Lester struck out 10 in six innings in becoming the first Cubs left-hander to strike out 10 or more batters in four games in a season.
At the plate
Dexter Fowler reached base four times and snapped a 1-1 tie with a two-run home run in the fifth off rookie starter Tyler Cravy. Fowler has drawn 26 walks in his last 25 games.
On the mound
The Cubs' four-run fifth allowed manager Joe Maddon to preserve his well-worked relievers and use Jason Motte, Tommy Hunter and Travis Wood over the final three innings.
In the field
The Brewers exploited Lester's reluctance to throw to first base by stealing four bases in the third after Lester committed a throwing error that set up their first run.
Key number

The quote
