May 03--The summary
Previously winless Brewers starter Mike Fiers stifled the Cubs and Ryan Braun hit a two-run homer Saturday for a 6-1 victory that evened the series 1-1 at Wrigley Field.
On the mound
Fiers (1-3) struck out 12 Cubs over six innings. Cubs starter Jake Arrieta (3-2) struggled early and left after five innings, giving up four runs on seven hits.
At the plate
Anthony Rizzo hit a home run but the Cubs were limited to just one run for the third straight game.
In the field
Starlin Castro made a diving, back-hand stop of Khris Davis' sharply-hit ball in the seventh inning. Castro fired to second for the force to end the inning. In the ninth, though, Castro and Rizzo made errors on the same play that allowed Logan Schafer to score.
The quote
"I made a pitch to Braun that he was able to get extended on and use his power," Arrieta on the two-run homer he gave up.
