April 26--CINCINNATI -- Saturday's game between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds was postponed because of rain after a four-hour, 13-minute delay.
The tarp was briefly pulled off the infield at about 3:30 p.m. CDT, and groundscrew workers lined the field. But the tarp was pulled over the infield again as two umpires and Reds general manager Walt Jocketty retreated to an office to look at the weather radar.
Rain started to fall at Great American Ball Park about three hours before the scheduled first pitch and has continued throughout the day. The Reds, however, had a large advance ticket sale as they honored members of the 1990 World Series team that swept Tony La Russa's Oakland Athletics in four games.
The Cubs conclude this series on Sunday, then return to Cincinnati on July 20-22 and Sept. 29-Oct. 1.
Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta is expected to have his start pushed back to Sunday.
This marks the 10th rainout since Great American Ball Park opened in 2003. It's also the second rainout for the Cubs, who have yet to reschedule their April 7 postponement against St. Louis.
