Behind a solo home run by Miguel Montero in the second inning and a three-run double by rookie Addison Russell in the fourth, the Cubs pulled away Sunday to a 5-2 win over the Reds and completed a 4-2 trip.
At the plate
Jorge Soler continues to chase pitches out of the strike zone, and he paid the price by striking out on a pitch from Anthony DeSclafani after Dexter Fowler hit a soft single to start the game.
On the mound
Jake Arrieta retired the first 11 batters but ran into trouble in the fourth and fifth innings, when he allowed four hits and three walks. Despite needing 58 pitches in the fourth and fifth, Arrieta managed to pitch six innings.

Shortstop Starlin Castro made a diving backhanded stop and threw on one knee to retire Brennan Boesch to start the sixth.
