BRIEF: Cubs Game Day: Controlling McCutchen

April 28--The Chicago Cubs open a three-game home series against the Pittsburgh Pirates and All-Star center fielder Andrew McCutchen, who was only 1-for-9 during a series at Arizona.

McCutchen is batting only .186 this season, but Cubs manager Joe Maddon is fearful that McCutchen could snap out of his slump.

"If you're the opposition and catch him during a bad moment, good for you, lucky for you," Maddon said. "Because this guy is a top 5 player in baseball.

"If he is struggling at all, you're fortunate for that moment because it's not going to happen for a long time."

McCutchen is a lifetime .359 hitter in 47 games at Wrigley Field, including six hits in his past 10 at-bats.

Jason Hammel will start for the Cubs.
