BRIEF: Cubs claim LHP Edgar Olmos off waivers from Seattle

Dec. 04--The Chicago Cubs continued their pursuit of left-handed relief help Friday by claiming Edgar Olmos off waivers from the Seattle Mariners.

Olmos, 25, has pitched in 11 major league games with the Miami Marlins (2013) and Seattle Mariners (2015). Olmos, 25, was 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA in six appearances (two starts) with the Mariners last summer and was 1-1 with a 3.55 ERA in 20 games with Triple-A Tacoma.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Olmos was a third-round pick of the Marlins in the 2008 draft out of Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, Calif.

The Cubs' 40-man roster is at 37. The addition of Olmos comes one week after the Cubs aquired left-hander Rex Brothers in a trade with the Colorado Rockies.
