Aug. 01--Friday's 3 p.m. trade deadline has passed, and shortstop Starlin Castro remains in the Chicago Cubs' starting lineup against Milwaukee.
Perhaps a much bigger surprise is that Chris Coghlan will remain in the third spot for the second consecutive game. Third baseman Kris Bryant returns to the lineup but will bat fifth for only the second time this season.
Despite relentless speculation about Castro's future, he will play shortstop and bat seventh.
Reliever Ben Rowen was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.
The Cubs still need a starting pitcher for Sunday's game at Milwaukee. Since newly-acquired Dan Haren made his final appearance Thursday for the Miami Marlins, he likely wouldn't be ready to make his Cubs debut until Tuesday night at the earliest and more likely Wednesday night.
Left-hander Clayton Richard would be in line to start Sunday against the Brewers.
