Oct. 20--Although most of the attention around Wrigley Field involves the contributions of the four rookies who helped lead the Chicago Cubs to a National League Championship Series berth, more help could be on the way in the distant future.
Baseball America magazine ranked the Cubs' 2015 draft class as second best in the majors. The draft class is led by switch-hitting outfielder Ian Happ of Cincinnati, who batted .259 with nine home runs and 33 RBIs in 67 games for short-season Class-A Eugene and Class-A South Bend.
Left-hander Bryan Hudson, a third-round pick out of Alton High School, had the second-best secondary pitch (curve). The 6-foot-8, 220-pound Hudson posted a 2.70 ERA in five games.
Outfielder D.J. Wilson, a fourth-round pick from Canton South High School in Ohio, was ranked as the fourth best defensive player.
