BRIEF: CTA Red Line service resumes after switching problems

March 07--Service on the CTA's Red Line between Howard and Belmont resumed Saturday afternoon arfter a disruption because of switching problems, according to the transit agency.

Service on the northbound Red Line between Belmont and Howard was suspended because of switching problems about 12:10 p.m., while southbound service was operating, according to an alert on the CTA's website. Service resumed around 1:30 p.m., said CTA spokesman Brian Steele.

The total disruption lasted about a half-hour, with riders sent to shuttle service between the Loyola and Thorndale stations for most of the time that the switching problem was being worked on, Steele said.
