BRIEF: CTA crews to work on Red, Green lines, delays expected

Jan. 23--Chicago Transit Authority Red and Green line trains will be affected during the weekend by maintenance work and construction on the new Cermak-McCormick station.

Southbound Red Line subway trains will be rerouted to the elevated tracks between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown stations from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Sunday, according to the CTA's website. Northbound trains will not be affected.

Crews will be doing scheduled maintenance and improvements to the State Street and the Clark/Division subway stations.

Travelers headed southbound can board or exit rerouted trains on the following elevated stops: Armitage, Sedgwick/North, Chicago/Franklin, Merchandise Mart, Clark/Lake, State/Lake, Randolph/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Adams/Wabash and Roosevelt/Wabash.

Green Line service between Roosevelt and 35th-Bronzeville-IIT stations will be replaced by shuttle buses from 1:40 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday because of construction on the new Cermak-McCormick Place station.

Passengers using the affected CTA lines should allow extra travel time throughout the weekend.
