BRIEF: Crystal Lake man charged with drug-induced homicide in McHenry woman's death

July 29--A Crystal Lake man is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning after being charged with drug-induced homicide in connection with the death of a McHenry woman from an apparent heroin overdose in April.

Herman Trigg, 31, of the 300 block of Ambassador Lane, is being held in McHenry County Jail in lieu of $2.5 million bond, police said Tuesday.

The woman was found dead April 4 in her home in the 3100 block of West Lincoln Road in McHenry.

Two days later, after a sting operation, Trigg was arrested near the woman's home. Police said they found 1.2 grams of heroin and 0.6 grams of cannabis in his possession.

Trigg was arrested and charged then with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.

On Friday, after further investigation by Crystal Lake detectives and the McHenry County coroner, police obtained an arrest warrant and charged Trigg with drug-induced homicide in the woman's death, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
