BRIEF: Crews search for teen boy in Prospect Heights fire

Nov. 03--Rescue crews are searching for a teenage boy missing in a fire at a single-family home in northwest suburban Prospect Heights Monday morning, authorities said.

About 3 a.m., Prospect Heights police responded to a fire in the 1200 block of Stratford Road, according to the Prospect Heights Fire Department.

Fire officials said a mother, father and their three children were outside the home and told emergency responders that their teenage son was still inside, according to a WGN reporter at the scene.

Police officers tried to enter the home to search for the boy but suffered smoke inhalation and did not find the boy. One of the officers was hospitalized, Prospect Heights Fire Chief Donald Gould told WGN-TV.

The mother was transported Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights for smoke inhalation, according to WGN.

Crews are still searching for the teenage boy, authorities said.
