BRIEF: Crews rescue person from subway tracks at State-Lake Red Line station

May 19--Chicago Fire Department crews rescued a person on the State Street "L" tracks at the Lake Street station Wednesday evening, authorities said.

A person was rescued after being down on the tracks, but preliminary information indicated the person did not come in contact with a train or the electrified third rail, a CTA spokesman said. Emergency crews were called just before 5 p.m., according to the CTA.

Red Line trains to Howard stood for a time near the station while crews worked to rescue the person, while other Howard-bound trains were diverted to the elevated structures usually used by the Green, Brown and Purple lines. Regular service was resuming by about 5:20 p.m.
