BRIEF: Craft beer brewing, taproom coming to West Town

Dec. 18--Great Central Brewing Co., a craft contract-brewing facility and taproom in the West Town neighborhood, is scheduled to open for business early in the summer, the company announced Thursday.

At its 32,000-square-foot location now under construction at 221 N. Wood St., Great Central will brew its beer as well as those of other breweries that need more capacity, according to a statement. Both Great Central beers and those brewed for clients will be served in a 4,000-square-foot taproom shortly after operations begin.

The end result, Great Central said, will be a beertopia for craft beer enthusiasts and brewers.

"Great Central Brewing Company has been several years in the making and we are excited to bring our unique brewing solution to downtown Chicago," David Avram, founder and partner of Great Central , said in a statement.
