April 06--Coyotes center Antoine Vermette will not face additional discipline for his hit on Blackhawks center Artem Anisimov on Tuesday night that forced him to leave the game.
The hit occurred during the second period of the Hawks' 6-2 victory. With Anisimov hunched over while playing the puck near the Hawks bench, Vermette hit him from behind, and the Hawks center crashed into the boards headfirst. Anisimov was helped off the ice and didn't return.
Vermette, a former Hawk, drew a five-minute boarding penalty and game misconduct with 4 minutes, 18 seconds remaining in the second. The Hawks scored twice on the ensuing power play, stretching their lead to 5-0.
Anisimov suffered an upper-body injury and is day to day, coach Joel Quenneville said Wednesday. His availability for Thursday's game against the Blues is unknown.
Anisimov, 27, has 20 goals and 22 assists in his first season with the Hawks.
