BRIEF: Could Donald Trump derail L.A.'s bid for 2024 Olympics?

March 02--Super Tuesday's voting results added fuel to a question that has circulated around the Olympic movement in recent weeks.

Would a Donald Trump presidency hurt Los Angeles' chances of hosting the 2024 Summer Games?

Trump has certainly been a target for criticism in Western Europe, where the power base of the International Olympic Committee resides. His talk of building walls and establishing a moratorium on allowing Muslims into the country also seems to run at odds with the IOC's stated mission of inclusion.

During a news conference on Wednesday, IOC President Thomas Bach insisted his organization would not allow American politics to enter into a bid race that includes L.A., Paris, Rome and Budapest.

The Olympic leader quickly added: "And my private opinion I will not reveal here."

The IOC will select a 2024 host in the summer of 2017.
