BRIEF: Cosi's financial chief resigns

Jan. 22--Cosi's chief financial officer has resigned after less than a year on the job at the beleaguered fast-casual restaurant chain, the Boston-based company said Thursday.

Scott Carlock, who was named CFO in July, resigned this week "to pursue other opportunities," the company said in a statement.

Richard Bagge will step in as interim CFO until a replacement is found.

Before joining Cosi, Bagge was an executive at Hearthstone Associates, the business Cosi CEO and President R.J. Dourney ran before heading up the restaurant chain.

Cosi left its Deerfield headquarters for Boston last year after company officials said it would have an easier time recruiting talent and turning around the company there.

Cosi, founded in the late 1990s, has struggled to turn itself around in recent years. In its most recent quarter, losses widened nearly by 69 percent to $4.1 million. Revenues were down almost 10 percent to $18.5 million.
