BRIEF: Cornerback Adoree' Jackson on Thorpe Award watchlist

July 14--USC's Adoree' Jackson was named the watchlist for the Jim Thorpe Award, presented annually to college football's top defensive back.

Jackson started nine games at cornerback in 2014 and was selected a Freshman All-American. Jackson made 49 tackles and broke up 10 passes. He also returned two kickoffs for touchdowns and played as a receiver.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Jackson also has appeared on watchlists for the Hornung Award, which recognizes college football's most versatile player, and the Bednarik Award and Nagurski Trophy, both of which honor a national defensive player of the year.

Mark Carrier of USC won the Thorpe Award in 1989.

USC is set to begin training camp on Aug. 8.

The Trojans are scheduled to open the season Sept. 5 against Arkansas State.
