BRIEF: Cor Theatre will stage 'Christina, The Girl King' and 'The Good Person of Szechwan' in 2016

Dec. 15--Cor Theatre, now in its second season, will stage "Christina, The Girl King" and "The Good Person of Szechwan" in 2016.

Linda Gaboriau's translation of Michel Marc Bouchard's "Christina, The Girl King," seen at Stratford in 2014, will be directed by artistic director Tosha Fowler. The U.S. premiere, running March 17 -- April 9, is based on the life of the 17th century feminist monarch. Performances will take place at the Frontier Theatre, 1106 W. Thorndale Ave.

"The Good Person of Szechwan," Tony Kushner's translation of Bertolt Brecht's play about a young prostitute caught between commodity and morality, is up next. Ernie Nolan is set to direct and Will Von Vogt will star as Shen Te. Performances will run Aug. 11 -- Sept. 11 at A Red Orchid Theatre, 1531 N. Wells St.
