Sept. 05--Police issued a community alert Saturday afternoon warning of a rash of robberies on the Southwest Side in the city's West Elsdon neighborhood.
Police said at least three robbers have approached victims from behind and demanded their property. In some instances, the robbers have forcibly taken the property.
The first robbery happened Aug. 23 at about 6:30 p.m. in the 5200 block of South Pulaski Road. The robbers struck again on Sept. 4 at about 6:20 a.m. in the 5200 block of South Keeler Avenue, and about 3 p.m. in the 5100 block of South Pulaski Road, police said.
Descriptions of the robbers are scarce, but police said two of them are Hispanic and between 19 to 21 years of age. Both are between 5 feet 5 to 5 feet 7 inches tall and weigh 140 to 200 pounds. The third robber is black and in the same age group, but taller at 6 feet and 5 inches tall.
