BRIEF: Cops warn of sexual assault in Bronzeville neighborhood

Oct. 28--Police issued a community alert late Monday afternoon warning about a masked attacker who forced a woman into her Bronzeville neighborhood apartment and sexually assaulted her.

The attack happened shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday on the 100 block of East 44th Street. Police said the woman was standing on her back porch smoking a cigarette when she was approached by a masked man.

The man, who was wearing a partial ski mask and gloves, grabbed the woman from behind and forced her into her apartment, said police. The man then sexually assaulted the woman then fled out of the rear door.

The attacker was described as a black man with a medium build, between 6-foot to 6-foot-4 . He had a tattoo of a star on the right side of his neck with the letter "S" possibly inside of the star, said police.

He was last seen wearing a black jacket, a dark shirt and black pants.
