BRIEF: Cops: Man wearing dirty clothes sexually abused girl in South Side alley

Jan. 09--Police have issued an alert warning about a man who grabbed a 12-year-old girl from behind and touched her in an alley on the South Shore.

The young girl was walking about 7 p.m. Sunday in an alley in the 6800 block of South Merrill Avenue. A man wearing dirty clothes and boots approached the girl, grabbed her from behind and touched her, police said.

The girl was able to free herself from his grasp and ran home.

The attacker was described as a black man between 35 and 40 years old. He is about 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall, and weighs between 130 and 160 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, dirty tan pants, dirty black work boots and dirty gloves, police said.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the attack is asked to contact the Chicago Police Special Investigations Unit at 312-492-3810.
