Nov. 26--Police are warning South Chicago residents of a man who tried to kidnap a 9-year-old girl last week.
The girl was walking in the 8800 block of South Buffalo Avenue about 8:15 a.m. on Nov. 19 when the man went up to her and then "pursued" her, according to alert issued Thursday by Area South detectives.
Police did not release further details about the incident.
The black man, who had a dark complexion, was described as being in his 50s, very skinny and standing about 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-6, with gray, unkempt hair and a gray-and-black full beard and mustache. He was wearing a black jacket and green pants.
