BRIEF: Cops ask for help finding car that hit woman, her dog on South Side

April 07--Chicago police are asking for help finding a driver involved in a Monday hit-and-run that seriously injured a woman and her dog as they crossed a street in the West Englewood neighborhood.

Police on Wednesday released a surveillance photo of the car, turning apparently just before it hit the 51-year-old woman and her dog about 9:35 a.m. Monday in the 5900 block of South Damen Avenue, according to an alert issued Wednesday.

The woman was seriously injured and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment, and her dog also was hit, according to police. Police News Affairs and the Major Accident Investigation Unit did not immediately have information on the extent of the dog's injuries Wednesday.

The car is described as a black, four-door car, possibly a Chevrolet Impala. The car fled south on Damen following the crash.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the Major Accidents investigators at 312-745-4521.
