BRIEF: Cops: Armed man assaulted woman while her infant was inside car

April 04--Police issued an alert Sunday afternoon warning of an armed man who forced a woman and her infant back inside of her parked car and sexually assaulted her a week ago.

About 3:45 a.m. March 27, the 25-year-old woman parked her vehicle and got out with her infant child in the 200 block of North Kenneth Avenue in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. An armed man approached her, pulled out a gun and ordered her to get back inside of the vehicle, police said.

The man got into the driver's seat and drove off with the woman and her baby. He sexually assaulted the woman, then got out of the car in the area of Congress Parkway and Kolmar Avenue and fled, police said.

The attacker was described as a black man, between 40 and 50 years old, about 5 feet 9 to 6 feet tall, with facial hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a black skull cap, a hooded sweatshirt and a black jacket with a white logo on the right shoulder. Police said the jacket was possibly a North Face brand jacket.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact Area North detectives at 312-744-8261.
