Oct. 07--A person is in custody after allegedly trying to run down several Chicago police officers Tuesday who were trying to pull him over and ended up with officers firing shots at the suspect, police said.
The incident occurred at 12:09 p.m. on the 5500 block of South Hoyne Avenue in the West Englewood neighborhood, police said. Police attempted to pull over a vehicle when the person then tried to run down police officers, police said.
In the process, the person attempted to run down several police officers which then led to police discharging their weapons, police said.
No one was struck and the suspect attempted to flee which then lead to a brief chase that ended with police eventually pulling over the suspect and taking the person in custody.
The police officers were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said. A police spokesman could not provide additional details on the number of officers involved.
The matter is under investigation by the Independent Police Review Authority. Charges are pending against the suspect, police said.
