Dec. 12--A Chicago police officer was hurt during a three-car crash on Lake Shore Drive on the North Side early Friday, police said.
The crash happened around 2:55 a.m. in the 2800 block of Lake Shore Drive in the Lakeview neighborhood, said Ron Gaines, a Chicago police spokesman.
A car hit a marked squad car after it was in turn hit by another car, Gaines said. The squad car was pulled over to the side of the road when it was struck.
The police officer was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Gaines said. His condition stabilized.
No other injuries were reported.
One of the drivers was cited for failure to reduce speed as a result of the incident, Gaines said.
