BRIEF: Cop injured after being struck by stolen van on South Side

Jan. 02--A Chicago police officer was injured Thursday afternoon after being struck by a stolen van on the South Side, police said.

At about 2:30 p.m. police pulled over a van in the 6000 block of South Winchester Avenue in the West Englewood neighborhood, police said.

As police were investigating, the driver of the van struck the officer, according to police news affairs officials.

The 26-year-old officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his left leg and a possible concussion, according to police news affairs.

One offender was arrested at the scene, and a second person was being sought.
