BRIEF: Cop, driver hurt in crash on Far South Side

Jan. 10--A police officer was hurt and another person was injured in a three-car crash on the Far South Side early Saturday morning, police said.

Two police squad cars were parked at 40 E. 107th St. in the Roseland neighborhood when a female driver in a car traveling westbound slammed into the back of one of the squad cars about 2:20 a.m., said Chicago police spokesman Hector Alfaro.

Three of the four police officers, who were responding to a call in the area, were outside of the squad cars at the time of the crash, Alfaro said.

One police officer was transported to MetroSouth Medical Center with minor injuries. He was listed in good condition, Alfaro said.

The female driver was taken to Roseland Community Hospital, where she was also listed in good condition, Alfaro said.

The accident is believed to be alcohol-related, and citations are pending for the female driver, police said.
