BRIEF: Cook County picnic permits on sale for 2016

Jan. 04--Picnic permits for 2016 for Cook County forest preserves went on sale at 8 a.m. Monday.

Groups of 25 or more people need a permit to use any of the Cook County Forest Preserve District's 297 picnic groves. Permits are available at fpdcc.com/permits and can be bought in person at district headquarters, 536 N. Harlem Ave., in River Forest.

Basic permits cost $47 to $115, but special event permits carry additional fees, according to the district's website. Permit fees vary based on grove size, capacity and special items used on preserve property.
