BRIEF: Convicted murderer escapes from Kankakee County jail

April 01--A convicted murderer escaped from a lockup facility early Wednesday in Kankakee County, authorities said.

Kamron T. Taylor, 23, reportedly overpowered a correctional officer, took his keys and uniform and escaped from the Jerome Combs Detention Center around 3 a.m., according to a statement posted on the Kankakee County Sheriff's Office website.

Taylor, of the 700 block of North Schuyler Avenue in Kankakee, stole the officer's vehicle, a brown 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, with Illinois registration plate P506660, according to the statement.

Taylor, who was recently convicted of murder and was awaiting sentencing, is considered armed and dangerous, according to the statement.

He is described as 5-foot-9 and weighs about 170 pounds, according to the statement.
