Feb. 12--A Downers Grove man who is a contract firefighter and paramedic has been charged with child pornography possession, according to DuPage County prosecutors.
Peter Woitovich, 25, of the 5700 block of South Walnut Avenue, appeared in bond court Thursday afternoon, where his bail was set at $300,000.
Prosecutors said an investigation by the sheriff's police Sexual Predator Electronic Exploitation Division led authorities to Woitovich. Police armed with a warrant conducted a search at Woitovich's residence earlier Thursday and took him into custody after allegedly finding illicit images in his possession, authorities said.
His next court appearance was set for Feb. 22. Should he post bail, Woitovich must stay away from children and cannot access the internet, according to court order.
In a statement, State's Attorney Robert Berlin and Sheriff John Zaruba credited the Sexual Predator Electronic Exploitation Division for its work on the case.
Information about where Woitovich has served as a firefighter and paramedic was not immediately available.
