BRIEF: Common to star in 'John Wick' sequel

Oct. 27--Add another line to Common's growing acting resume. The Chicago rapper-turned-actor will star as a villain in the Keanu Reeves flick "John Wick 2," The Hollywood Reporter reported Monday.

Common, who was born Lonnie Lynn Jr. and grew up on the South Side, will play head of security for a female crime lord, according to the report. In the first movie, Reeves played Wick, a retired assassin who sought revenge after the killing of his beloved dog.

The sequel, which may be released late next year, is set to begin shooting this week. Common, 43, was in Chicago last week filming a Chicago-set pilot for the Showtime network.

He's also starring in the superhero flick "Suicide Squad," featuring Will Smith and Jared Leto, that's slated to be released in August.
