BRIEF: Colts out of (Andrew) Luck; QB out 2-6 weeks with lacerated kidney

Nov. 11--Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck sustained a lacerated kidney and a partial abdominal tear in the fourth quarter of Sunday's victory over Denver, the Colts announced Tuesday.

Luck should not require surgery and is expected to be out between two and six weeks for a full recovery, the team said in a written release.

"It's way too early to guess how long Andrew will be out," Colts Coach Chuck Pagano said. "We're going to keep listening to the doctors and evaluating his progress on a week by week basis. We've got all the confidence in the world in Matt Hasselbeck and we're not going to put Andrew back out there until he's healed and ready to go."

Pagano said Luck incurred the injury on a scramble early in the fourth quarter "when Andrew was trying to do everything he could to get us the win."

Pagano said Luck was sore after the game and "feeling a little worse" Monday, whereupon the Colts sent him to get tests.

Last week, a lacerated kidney ended the season of star San Diego receiver Keenan Allen.
