Nov. 20--Colorado athletic director Rick George won't be returning to Illinois.
George, a 1982 graduate of the university and former Illini cornerback, told the Boulder Daily Camera he will not pursue the vacant Illinois AD job. He had been rumored as a top candidate since Illinois fired Mike Thomas on Nov. 9.
"I can honestly tell you that I'm planning on being at Colorado as the athletic director for the foreseeable future," George told the newspaper. "Should Illinois contact me, that would be humbling and flattering, but I would decline because Colorado, and Boulder, is my home for the foreseeable future."
