BRIEF: Woman falls overboard from Norwegian Pearl near Cuba during music festival cruise

Nov. 13--The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a woman who fell from the Norwegian Pearl cruise ship Thursday night, about 22 nautical miles off the coast of Cuba.

The Coast Guard received an initial report that a passenger had fallen from the deck of the ship at approximately 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Norwegian Pearl left the Port of Miami on Wednesday and was heading to Cozumel, Mexico during a four-day electronic dance music event, "Mad Decent Boat Party," according to the event website.

Norwegian Cruise Line said in a statement that the woman was seen "intentionally going overboard while the ship was sailing the Yucatan Channel."

The ship's crew deployed three rescue boats and notified the Coast Guard, the cruise line said.

The Coast Guard Cutter Alligator and an aircrew aboard a C-130 from Air Station Clearwater were en route to assist in the search for the woman, according to a release.
