BRIEF: Closing time for Tete Charcuterie

March 07--Tete Charcuterie (1114 W. Randolph St.), one of the best new restaurants in 2014, closed quietly over the weekend.

The charcuterie-focused restaurant, by chef-partners Kurt Guzowski and Thomas Rice, received a Chicago Tribune Dining Award last year and made Chicago Magazine's best new restaurants list. It was much more than "just" charcuterie, but Tete never drew the number of customers its owners hoped for.

In a statement, Guzowski said he and his partners (including Daniel Goodman) were "incredibly proud of what we've accomplished with Tete. It has allowed us to introduce our product and garnered a reputation for the quality we provide. We're walking away from this feeling very positive about what we've built for the last two years."
