BRIEF: Clippers waive Jordan Farmar

Jan. 16--The Clippers waived backup guard Jordan Farmar, the team announced Friday.

The move comes a day after the team acquired Austin Rivers in a three-team trade that involved the Boston Celtics and the Phoenix Suns. In the deal, the Clippers sent forward Reggie Bullock to the Suns. The Celtics received Suns forward Shavlik Randolph, Clippers forward Chris Douglas-Roberts and the Clippers' 2017 second-round draft pick.

Farmar, 28, averaged 4.6 points, 1.9 assists, and 1.2 rebounds in 14.7 minutes a game over 36 appearances this season. Those numbers are below his career average of 7.7 points, 2.9 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 19.4 minutes.

Farmar signed a two-year, $4.2-million deal last off-season with a player option in the second season paying $2.1 million.

The Clippers will now have an open roster spot.
