BRIEF: Clippers announce multiyear partnership with American Airlines

Feb. 20--The Clippers announced Friday that they have partnered with American Airlines in a multiyear agreement, the team's first new significant corporate partner since Steve Ballmer purchased the team for a record $2 billion.

As part of the deal, American Airlines' logo with appear on the court during home games and the airline will have a branding presence with the video board and LED courtside signage.

"This momentous partnership with American Airlines marks a strategic development of the Clippers brand as we align with the best in class," Clippers President of Business Operations Gillian Zucker said in a statement.

"We are pleased to welcome American Airlines to the Clippers family as the Official Airline of the Los Angeles Clippers. We look forward to working closely with American to strengthen their bond with the Los Angeles community."

Ballmer hired Zucker in November, making her the only female chief executive or president in major U.S. professional sports besides the Lakers' Jeanie Buss.

Zucker, 45, spent the last nine years as president of Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, the largest racetrack on the West Coast. She was named one of the five most powerful women in motorsports by MSN and Fox.
