BRIEF: Clippers and Glen Davis talk about the forward's return

Aug. 27--Free agent Glen Davis and the Clippers have reignited talks about the possibility of the forward's returning to the team next season.

Davis' representatives and Doc Rivers, the Clippers' coach and president of basketball operations, had a conversation Monday in which both sides expressed interest, according to an NBA official who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

Davis also got a call from the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, according to the official, who added that the Mavericks are looking for another veteran forward.

Teams from China and Europe also have contacted Davis about playing overseas, the official said.

If the Clippers re-sign Davis, it probably would be for the veteran minimum of $1.35 million.

Davis, 29, played the past two seasons with the Clippers.

The eight-year NBA player averaged 4.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in 74 games last season.
