BRIEF: Clerk stabbed, robbed at Bucktown store

May 07--A knife-wielding man stabbed and robbed a store clerk Wednesday afternoon inside a Bucktown store.

About 1 p.m., a man entered a store in the 1600 block of North Damen Avenue "under the false pretenses of purchasing" merchandise, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.

When the clerk opened up the cash register, the man pulled out a knife and announced a robbery, police said. The clerk, a 32-year-old woman, was cut on her hand, and the robber fled the store with an unknown amount of cash.

The woman was taken to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center where she was listed in good condition, police said.

As of Wednesday evening, no one was in custody in connection with the robbery.
