BRIEF: 'Churchill' show is headed off-Broadway

Jan. 07--"Churchill," Ronald Keaton's hit, self-penned, one-man show about the iconic British wartime leader, is headed off-Broadway. Opening night at New World Stages in New York, 340 W. 50th St., is slated for Feb. 16.

First produced at the Greenhouse Theater Center last summer, Keaton's show imagines Winston Churchill toward the end of his political career, speaking to an American audience in 1946. The show, directed by Kurt Johns, was a sold-out hit at the Greenhouse. Keaton is a longtime Chicago actor with four decades worth of credits, especially in the city's major musical houses. The New York venture is billed as a joint production of the Greenhouse Theater Center, SoloChicago, and the Wendy and William Spatz Charitable Foundation, with the support and permission of The Churchill Centre. The Spatzes are the owners of the Greenhouse Theater Center.
