BRIEF: Christopher Gattelli will choreograph Goodman's 'War Paint'

Feb. 19--Broadway choreographer Christopher Gattelli has joined the creative team of the new musical "War Paint," the Goodman Theatre announced Friday.

Gattelli, a veteran choreographer known for his Tony-winning work in "Newsies," is also choreographing the pre-Broadway production of "The SpongeBob Musical" this summer at the Oriental Theatre. He last collaborated with the Goodman on Mary Zimmerman's adaptation of Disney's "The Jungle Book" in 2013.

As previously announced, "War Paint" will star Broadway divas Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole as Helena Rubinstein and Elizabeth Arden, both cosmetic-industry titans and famous rivals.

The new musical, likely headed for Broadway, features a score composed by Scott Frankel with lyrics by Michael Korie and a book by Doug Wright. Michael Greif will direct.

"War Paint" runs June 28 -- Aug. 7 at the Goodman Theatre, 170 N. Dearborn St. Individual tickets fo on sale Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. online at goodmantheatre.org and at noon by phone: 312-443-3800.
