Feb. 19--Broadway choreographer Christopher Gattelli has joined the creative team of the new musical "War Paint," the Goodman Theatre announced Friday.
Gattelli, a veteran choreographer known for his Tony-winning work in "Newsies," is also choreographing the pre-Broadway production of "The SpongeBob Musical" this summer at the Oriental Theatre. He last collaborated with the Goodman on Mary Zimmerman's adaptation of Disney's "The Jungle Book" in 2013.
As previously announced, "War Paint" will star Broadway divas Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole as Helena Rubinstein and Elizabeth Arden, both cosmetic-industry titans and famous rivals.
The new musical, likely headed for Broadway, features a score composed by Scott Frankel with lyrics by Michael Korie and a book by Doug Wright. Michael Greif will direct.
