BRIEF: Christmas Eve shooting of brother leads to domestic battery charges: Prosecutors

Dec. 26--A man faces a domestic battery charge after he was arrested Christmas Eve in the shooting of his older brother, prosecutors said Friday.

Maurice Wilson, 27, was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery after the shooting about 4:50 a.m. Thursday in the 9200 block of South Union Avenue. He was ordered held in lieu of $50,000 bail in a bond hearing before Cook County Judge Donald Panarese.

According to court documents, Wilson, of the 9200 block of South Union Avenue, shot his 29-year-old brother once in each thigh. Wilson was treated at the hospital for a head injury, documents say.

Court documents say a witness and the 29-year-old brother initially said Wilson was the shooter, but later told police they didn't know who was responsible.
