BRIEF: 'Chiraq' filming next week at St. Sabina Church and needs extras

June 11--Spike Lee's "Chiraq" is scheduled to film an "important scene" Tuesday at St. Sabina Church in the Gresham neighborhood, according to a flier posted on the Rev. Michael Pfleger's Facebook page. The flier stated that the film is in need of extras of all ages for the scene and that "there will be a fun raffle with prizes, games and free food."

St. Sabina is where Lee held a news conference May 14 to discuss the movie. Pfleger also spoke during the news conference to show his support for the film, which has come under fire for its title. The church's request for a permit to hold a block party Saturday in celebration of the movie was turned down by Ald. David Moore, 17th, who disapproves of the title. Pfleger wrote on his Facebook page Thursday that the block party will still go on as scheduled.

"Chiraq" began filming in Chicago on June 1 and stars Nick Cannon, Wesley Snipes, John Cusack and Dave Chappelle. The movie has filmed at Double Door in Wicker Park and The Shrine in the South Loop, among other places.
