BRIEF: Child suffers minor injuries after school bus hits stop sign in Schaumburg

Aug. 31--A child suffered minor injuries after a school bus she was riding in hit a stop sign in Schaumburg, according to police.

The incident took place in the 1000 block of North Salem Drive in the northwest suburb.

Schaumburg police Lt. Shawn Green said the 9-year-old girl suffered minor scratches to her hands after one of the bus windows shattered and she was hit by some of the glass.

He said her injuries were superficial and she was taken to a hospital in the area for further examination.

Green said the roadway is under construction and a temporary stop sign was placed very close to the edge of the narrow one-way traffic lane.

No citations were issued to the driver of the school bus, he said.
