Sept. 15--After a summer of failed concert attempts, Chief Keef and his virtual counterpart are scheduled to take the stage Friday.
The Chicago rapper is slated to perform songs from his new "Bang 3" album live Friday at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles and via hologram at the concert's aftershow. "Watch the hologram show that was banned in Chicago!," reads a description of the concert on the website for FilmOn, Chief Keef's record label.
Chief Keef, born Keith Cozart, tried to have hologram shows in Chicago and Indiana this summer but efforts were thwarted by local officials. Money raised from the concerts was supposed to go to the families of a Chief Keef friend slain in July and a toddler killed in the aftermath of that shooting.
Tickets to Friday's live show start at $29 while the Chief Keef VIP meet-and-greet costs $195. The show starts at 10 p.m. with opening acts Joey Fatts and Queen Kyi.
Chicago fans can watch a live stream of the show at filmon.com for $9.95. Tour dates will be announced soon, a FilmOn spokesman said. Chief Keef has avoided appearing in Illinois in person this summer because of outstanding warrants out for him.
