Feb. 24--Two men who allegedly broke into a home in Lyons on Monday night and later led police on a chase into Chicago before being caught have been criminally charged, a Lyons spokesman said Wednesday morning.
Eduardo Ortiz, 51, of Chicago, and Calvin Kennedy, 35, of Grand Island, Neb., each were charged with home invasion with a firearm, according to Ray Hanania, spokesman for the village of Lyons.
The men allegedly entered a home in the 4500 block of Pulaski Avenue in Lyons about 7:15 p.m. Monday and were going through the house looking for something to steal when a daughter in an upstairs room called police, Hanania said Monday.
Officers got to the home as the suspects jumped into a silver Honda and headed for the Stevenson Expressway and then the Dan Ryan Expressway, Hanania said. They left the Dan Ryan near 65th Street and were arrested by officers from the Chicago Police Department's Englewood District, Hanania said.
No one was injured in the home, and the victims were able to make positive identifications of the two suspects, according to Lyons police Chief Jim Keating. The victims did not know the accused home invaders, Hanania said.
