Dec. 11--Chicago native Gina Rodriguez said she fell to the kitchen floor and started crying Thursday when she heard she had been nominated again for a Golden Globe for her work on "Jane the Virgin."
Rodriguez, who grew up in the Belmont-Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side, won a best actress Golden Globe in January for her portrayal of a woman who is accidentally inseminated on The CW dramedy.
"This is crazy," Rodriguez, 31, told Entertainment Tonight on Thursday. "The Hollywood Foreign Press Association changed my life last year, like entirely. I don't feel like I could have ever asked for any more."
Rodriguez, an alumna of St. Ignatius College Prep, also downplayed posts from the Golden Globes Twitter account that confused her with "Superstore" star America Ferrera. The mix-up drew complaints from social media users.
"I didn't hear anything until, like, recently somebody sent me an article, but, ah, who cares? Who cares?" Rodriguez said. "America's lovely. She's so beautiful and such a fantastic actress that, shoot, if there's anybody I want to get mixed up with -- it's her for sure!"
The Golden Globes are scheduled to be awarded Jan. 10 on NBC at 7 p.m.
