BRIEF: 'Chicago Med' to begin filming in September

Aug. 12--"Chicago Med" will officially join fellow Dick Wolf-produced NBC dramas "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D." in the city beginning next month.

The spin-off is tentatively scheduled to begin filming Sept. 16, according to a Chicago Film Office spokesperson. The 13-episode first season was supposed to premiere midseason but was moved up to Nov. 17. The upcoming seasons of "Chicago P.D." and "Chicago Fire" -- which began filming in July -- will premiere Sept. 30 and Oct. 13, respectively.

The cast of "Chicago Med" includes Oliver Platt ("Fargo"), Laurie Holden ("The Walking Dead") and S. Epatha Merkerson ("Law and Order"). Their characters were introduced on "Chicago Fire" toward the end of last season.
